88 3.0 to 92 22re any advice?
My 88 has no engine in it and im wanting to know how difficult it will be to drop a 22re in it out of my 92 pickup, I have the full truck.I have the r151 tranny and the 4cyl tranny.what procedures are necessary to complete this swap?

Great question as I am pondering a similar setup. I have a 1990 3.0L V6 and want to go to a 22R engine for ease and reliability. I have the R150 manual and are happy with the driveline, just hate the electronics on the 3.0L.
Too bad there is not more interested in this exchange. If I went the other way and dropped a Chevy 350 under the hood then I would have to replace the drive in and axles (NV5600, NV241, Dana 60 axles front and rear, stiffen and strengthen the frame, etc.).
TOOOO expensive for my blood.

The motor mounts are different so you will need to weld in a set of those. All harnesses will need to be changed. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...4-88-a-278925/ It is a big job. Might be a few other changes that need done. You will have the truck stripped down from one end to the next.

I have a 3.0L V6 with 237k on the odometer. The oil pouring out is the first of manyproblems that the engine is having; I suspect it would be easier to replace the engine thenrepair it. However, I want to rid myself of the electronics and go to afully mechanical engine.
If I am replacing an electronically controlled engine for a mechanically controlledengine why would I need to strip the truck to the frame and rewire everything?

There's no such thing as to much horsepower
