hi im after advice i have a 1994 Toyota Hilux 4x4 with a manual 2.4 petrol engine in it. Incredibly sluggish and likes to drink the fuel.

My other car 1998 (repairable writeoff..... i hate old people lol) has a 3.0L diesel engine with 225 Thou K's and is a perfect engine box etc etc etc. NON Turbo for now.

so my plan (hopefully) is to swap out the engine and box from my diesel into the petrol one. Now im being told to just swap the cab etc but i dont want to go back to IFS because i wanna do serious offroad and the solid front is better for what i want to do with the hilux.

so my question is... Has anyone done this swap and whats involved or is my thinking that it should be a straight swap right and that it should swap over with no drama. as i said i have the complete hilux sitting beside the one im driving now. so all parts / driveline are there.

Ive uploaded 2 pictures of the hilux's the grey (yellow number plates) is the 2.4 petrol and the dark blue with the black bullbar was my pride and joy that sadly wound up in the ass of another hilux because a little old lady slammed on her brakes and neither of us seen her hit the brakes before it was too late!! Damage doesn't look much but the cab was twisted.
