1992 22re in a 1988 Truck with 22re

I was wondering if i would encounter any problems while putting a 1992 22re into a 1988 truck that has a 22re i've noticed quite a few things are different.

thanks,
Mike

just strip down both almost down to a long block and use all your 92 componets on your donor ie. EFI intake, exhaust (for the o2 bung location) & egr (possible difference), and all sensors so your electrical connections will just plug in you should be able to leave the ps pump and alternator on possibly the ac unit if you have one...you may be able to leave some more stuff you will just have to check it out....oh yea best to take a lot of good picutures and label stuff cause the switch over can get a bit confusing right in the middle of things

Unless you plan on a major wiring job you will have to use the ECU, engine harness and sensors for the 88. Depending when your 88 was built you may have high impedence or low impedence injectors, Toyota changed from low impedence to high impedence mid way through 88. Your 92 has high impedence injectors, so you may have to swap the injectors from the 88 into the 92. Check for a resistor pack not far from the main fuse block or measure the resistance of the injectors in both engines with a multimeter.
Other than these things the 92 will drop right in!

Finally got the motor all swapped in. this was a big job for me. my only motor swap and i'm 17 lol. had to change out the injectors get new gaskets, had to change the cold start injector, also had to use the 92 intake and throttle body, had to wire in the 88 plug on the 92 distributor, both ecu's seem to work fine with it. Seems as though the truck dies out when you give it a bunch of gas. not sure what it is. possibly the TPS im thinking. here are some pics.

is the connector for the cold start injector time switch(black harness with the green wire, and the black wire) the same? just curious why you had to swap it. mine broke and theres a 94 parts truck a few houses down.
