Tow Strap Storage
what do you guys do with your tow straps after use? i roll mine back up and put a couple of zip ties to hold it together around the sides it works good but i would like to find somethin that holds it neatly and can be reused...any input? i was thinkin of havin whoever makes zip ties make some that are round maybe 1/8 inch and can be unlocked and reused? maybe any input is great thanks! erik

I keep one of the flat drink crates in either my tool box or the back of my runner and just keep my tow straps and different types of shackles in.
Bass Pro or somewhere like that makes some neat velcro straps that would be perfect for what you are saying. They attach back to themselves and you can get them in different sizes. Ill try to find some and post a link.

ahhh dangit i was gonna make something just like basspro had ah man that was my million dollar invention! haha well now i will just have to buy theres. well sounds like some of ya have some good ideas. thanks guys

just don't kink the strap when you store it and definitely do not leave it in the sun for long period of time, and depending on how much you use it i would recommend replacing it every year or so

old thread i know...
i use this trick for my 85 and my 88. i mounted ammo boxes in the beds of both my trucks, and i use 25ft recoery straps, i think 2 inches wide or so. when im done with them i roll them back up and put them in the bottom of my ammo box, the width of the box is perfect for that size strap, it keeps it in there snug, and doesnt let it unravel.
i dont like the idea of using zip ties (as long as theyre not tight) or tight rubber bands, tight string etc. to hold a recovery or tow strap wound up because if you dont use it daily it gets that crease looking mark that always makes me nervous

Haha yup, kinda mine too. I keep mine rolled up and in an ammo can. Unless I know I am gonna go through some deep mud/water, then it comes out, onto my front tow hook and draped on my hood and into the cab ready for deployment without getting out of the truck. 
Anymore though I drape it into the drivers side.

I normally roll the strap back up and put it in my cargo drawers or on the side bumper storage. The side storage is the easiest for sure. I have a stuff sack that I use as well.

True. I'm very thankful for it.
I sold my last house at a pretty big loss in order to buy another house with a lot big enough to build a garage on. I spent 10 years working in the dirt, weeds, cursing at the wind blowing away my shielding gas, working in the wee hours of the night when it's cooler and busting my knuckles to numbness in the freezing temps. There were a few neighborhood cats that liked to poo in my work area. That was fun to roll or step into. I got sick of it. My current house is half the size but I have a garage! And for me it was totally worth it. One of the best downsizing decisions I've made to date.
I don't think I would have gotten the side storage in the bumper done without the garage. It'll be nice to finish the locking latches someday.
