SAS front propeller-driveshaft need help

can i use, or should i use my old front propeller-driveshaft CV joint to have welded to my new longer travel driveshaft ?old 1987 IFS to 1985 SAS or what should i use?

newer version of SFA has more articulation. IFS the joint has to be opened. '84-85 should have same bolt pattern of flange.

THis is what mudpigg is talking about with the CV. Once its opened up, it has about 35* of motion.

CV joint

thanks rattlewagon and mudpigg,thats what i needed to hear,might try grinding on it

I used the stock rear non CV shaft because it didn't really need a CV and it was cheap to have it shortened. I only lifted 4 inches and so far the stock length splines have been long enough.


I needed a CV rear so I used the front CV and had it retubed. Had a bad vibration with the non CV shaft. Welded on new spring perches and shock mounts so I could rotate the axle for proper CV angles.

Made one......And due to the pinion angles I omitted the CV. That went on the rear DS.

I need to compare angles on my front shaft flange vrs t-case flange. I have a trail spare that is single cardigan. Which may be better suited to run in front than the double cardigan I'm currently running. Didn't rotate front knuckles so not an ideal set up for Cv front shaft.
