New SAS, shackle angle help needed

I just finished the SAS on my 92 reg cab P/U and dont think my front shackle angle is right and I don't have a clue what is wrong. I did the SAS at the same time that I swapped a new frame into my truck, so when I did the front hanger, frame guides, etc. it was a bare frame with no motor, trans, cab, box, etc.. to test the angle of the front shackles under weight. I used TG 3" front (not HD) springs, TG frame guides and templates, and followed the TG instructions to the T. Now that the truck is back together, my front shackles are at about 5 degrees forward of vertical. The should be 5 degrees behind vertical if I look at other SAS rigs. My front hanger is mounted flush with the front of the frame as is suggested in the kit directions. This seems to be causing two issues - first, the front suspension is very stiff (I expected it to be somewhat stiff as the springs are new), second, the front of the truck is MUCH higher than I wanted it to be. I'm running 33's and plan to stay with them. The rear is on a set of used 5" TG springs and I had to add 2" blocks to level out the truck. Does anyone have any ideas as to a solution? How much will these settle, and will that solve the problem? I have put about 400 miles on the truck since installing the SAS but haven't been wheeling yet - still working out some bugs.

I would think the springs will settle some, not sure how much but my guess is enough. Maybe you could get some revolver shackles? At least they would keep the shackles from folding up against the frame.

Sure u put the top shackel mount in the right spot?? Looks a little far back to me

The 3" springs are shorter then the 4 and 5 inch springs and the instructions on the TG site don't tell you that.

I'm guessing you have the spring hanger flush with the front of the frame. Move it back and inch to an inch and a half and the angle should be good.

I had the same issue with mine.

That doesn't sound like a good option - LOTS of cutting and grinding to make that happen! I talked to TG on Monday and have sent them a bunch of pictures to see what they think. I measured the springs (on the truck) and they measure about 45 3/4" - the TG information says that they are supposed to be 47". I measured along the arch and could be off a little with everything in the way but not that much. How long are your springs 85turbo?

Never measured them, I got my info on them being shorter from another member on here.

I had to cut my spring hanger off and move it back, it sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do.

TG SAS directions plainly state different mounting location for 3" front springs compared to 4" and 5". Leaf springs take one good wheeling day or a month of dding to settle. I don't think you'll have a problem when the springs settle but hard to say on only one picture.

You also TACK everything up then weld out once the angles are right to avoid these issues. Yes, it is a pita to do but so is hacking back off your front fully welded out hanger.
