Besides length, is there any other reason that I cannot use the IFS drive shaft to accomdate my low pinion solid axle swap? I would prefer to keep the double cardian at the transfer case. Just to extreme of an angle? I am sure this has been covered, I just cannot seem to locate the exact answer I am looking for. Thanks.

It's not only the length of the DS but the amount of slip it has. You'll need maybe 6" to 8" of slip with a SAS. The IFS shaft has maybe 3" max. PLus you'll need an longer DS from end to end.

The stock double cardian needs to be modified to allow for more aggressive working angle as well. Most ditch the DC for a standard CV at both ends.

If you are on a budget, a long slip DS can be made with two pieces of hitch stock. Should be under $60.

The IFS DC does not have as much movement as the 79-85 DC.

I am dealing with this problem right now. I think I'm going to use a 85 shaft with a 8" slip(for use on my 3" trail gear kit).

make a square shaft, or find a good 85 or older front shaft to add a slip to...

I used my IFS drive shaft with my SAS. I had the 8" spline from Marlin installed and I had to grind down the CV joint a little.
