Can I take a 22RE Yota over high mountain passes??
Does anyone have experience driving a 22RE up over the high mountain passes in Colorado?
Looking at Imogene Pass, Engineer, etc., over 10,000ft up to around 13,000ft...
Wondering if a 22RE Yota with 31's and low range 4WD can make it.
Thanks!

you will be fine. i drove that section in my Cruiser once and recall admiring many toyota trail rigs trekking along on all mountain passes in CO. from my personal 22re experience in high altitude/steep grades with 31s and 4.10 gearing, you will be fine, you will get into 3rd gear and only be doing maybe 50mph tops on some inclines. low range will be unnecessary.

I've driven my 88 with a 22re over many passes in colorado. Imogene, Ophir, Cinnamon, Engineer, Stony, etc, as well as highway passes like Monarch and the Eisenhower tunnel on 70. I've even had it up to 14,000ft out there. No real problem. It lacks power, but on those offroad passes and elevations your not moving real fast anyway. The toyota trucks are very well suited to those types of trails.
