Any Feedback on Denny's Auto Machine?
I'm looking for a 3.slow and found this guy on eBay. He's got good feedback on there and seems to have a fair price on the engine. He's using MLS head gaskets and says he does have the tools and facilities to get a good smooth finish on the block and heads so there's no issue with the MLS gasket failing.
So is anyone familiar with him? TIA!

Well, i pulled the pin on one of these. It's on the truck and scheduled to arrive on the 13th. Just in time for Christmas!
I couldn't find much about Denny's (good or bad) on the Internet but his feedback on eBay sure seems good. I guess I'll know soon enough...

Nice looking motor... hopefully it runs as good as it looks, had a chance to run it yet? What'd you pay for it (motor)?
Oooh, and headers, I like the headers!

We'll hopefully have the rig finished tomorrow. I need to buy a new fuel fitting for the cold start injector and then it should be all done!
I'll update once the old girl's up and running.

It's alive!!!
We're back in business. The rig's running and I've got about 40 miles on the new engine. Oil change at 300 and then check the headers for tightness, etc.
No big issues to note. There were a couple holes on the right side of the block that needed helicoils since they were stripped out. This had to be done before the headers went on. So one side of the engine's got bolts and the other's got studs. No biggie.

I'm just passing 1,500 miles now on the new engine. I did have a slight leak in the passenger-side valve cover near the back. A new gasket fixed that up. No signs of any burning oil or coolant. It's kind of a weird feeling not having to add oil or antifreeze every couple of days. I'd got in the habit of topping stuff off with the old engine.
The rig seems to be purring along nicely and I'm generally pleased with things. I don't know if the headers or the LCE air intake have done anything other than make the engine louder. But at least it sounds fast....

Finally got a new exhaust to take a bit better advantage of the headers.

Getting close to 8,000 miles on the engine now. No signs of oil leaks or coolant consumption. The engine seems to be running strong.
Recently I've been chasing an idle issue. The engine starts and idles fine when cold but if I shut it off when hot and let it sit for 15-20 minutes the rig starts hard and idles very low. Running it for a couple minutes once it starts seems to smooth things out but after re-starting it wants to idle at about 800 rpm rather than about 1,000 rpm like it does before I shut it off.
Some kind of malfunctioning sensor I guess. Have checked the TPS and it seems to be working fine.
