Favorite SoCal Trials

4ROC SoCal is lifeless! What gives, guys? Here is my attempt to inject a little life into our poor forum.
What is everyone’s favorite SoCal trail? I am new to the SoCal off road scene, and want a little local advice! I found the Dirtopia Wiki, but there is so much information I’m not sure where to head first…

the north main devide is pretty cool, but they close it down in snow and heavy rains. personally i like the san jacinto mountains i.e. thomas mountain, santa rosa mountain. they are fun mainly in the snow but the rosa can be quite scetchy in snow or water. and it overlooks ocotillo wells and the salton sea.

So Cal Trails

You know some good times are to be had at a place called corral canyon out off the 8 fwy only like 30 min from east county san diego. It is alot of fun and has trails for all skill levels. But it is a BLM thing so I think nowadays you need a day adventure pass for like $5 But it is great fun especially in some weather, they get light snow, but the rain is best.

We've never needed a day pass for corral canyon, if you bring a puller park it at the four corners staging area. Pine Valley has a nice trail as well, However nothing compares to truck haven if you have the time.

This thread REALLY makes me miss Santiago Canyon behind Littlerock Dam. It was all fenced off due to some species of rare frog.

Calico (love Odessa and Doran)
The Hammers (Aftershock, Clawhammer)
Cougar Buttes (Bullfrog, Cakewalk, crazy 8)

Trabuco Canyon is fun they have a decent riverbed for crawling and its also fun to drive up to the peak of Santiago Canyon (main divide rd) it overlooks everything, it is the highest mountain peak around.

My favorite trail I've been to so far tho is Cleghorn Ridge, its off the 15 heading towards Barstow, and has a lot of different hill climbs and obstacles to play on, theres occasionally snow but they close it most of the time.

Abunch of the harder off shoots have been blocked. It's not a very fun trail anymore..

Double post FTL.
Never heard of an endangered species, there at least.
Alot of the harder off shoots were illegal bypasses created by the wheelers who don't practice tread lightly.

I was just there the 15th this month, it's still okay but a couple sections at the west end were shut..
