Plan for Mount Hood slashes off-road riding

I know many on here are from Oregon state.
Here is some depressing news.
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Four-wheel-drives, ATVs and dirt bikes can only go in designated areas of the Mount Hood National Forest under a management plan issued Friday that closes 93 percent of more than 2,000 miles of roads and trails that have been open to the vehicles...

Yep, those are on the far less traveled east side of the mountain. There's actually never been any "legitimate" trails over here on the west side where most folks could enjoy them. And they've taken drastic measures to close all of those that they can find there too. I couldn't believe the closure in 2003 at the north end Wildcat Mt., in the Mt. Hood National Forest, which closed off a HUGE portion of land to all vehicle travel(even the gravel roads which were in NO way suffering from any misuse). And from looking at the signage on the south side of Wildcat, they'll be closing it soon also. It must be several hundred square miles of beautiful country that is being threatened there.

Real bummer.
