Tilt steering wires broken, repair or replace?

i've got a 91 SR5 with tilt and cruise. Been having an issue with turn signals, took cover off and found 12 wires broken. Mind you the truck has been sitting and I just swapped in 3.4 so its got gremlins.

Anywho, should I repair or replace the harness? Wires are broken in the same spot where the harness bends with the steering column. Not for sure if I can get harness from dealership anymore??

Never having looked real close is this past where the wires coming from the switches plug into the main harness??

Can you remove this section of harness so you can repair it trying to repair it in the truck will be frustrating .

You can try and get a new one you might be lucky

The thing is the wiring is almost 25 years old, not much slack in the harness. they broke right where the steering column bends. just in front of the metal retaining band. I can pull it all out and repair it with ease. I know its a temporary fix before it fails again.

We had some really cold bad weather the other night. I pulled several co-worker out and wound up sliding on the ice into a ditch. Once I got free and started heading home the seat belt buzzer started going off and all the interior lights came on. When I turned the signal to turn off the highway the truck died. After charging the battery i got it home and started checking for broken grounds and the turn signal assembly since that seemed to be the likely culprit. Out of the 23 wires running through the column only 2 haven't broken. Not much slack to work with as the harness has a clip that connects to the main harness, its bolted to the column itself.

Myself If I fixed that I would splice in enough wire that the moving of the column no longer effects the wires.

No doubt I never had that problem my column seldom gets moved about the only time is pulling the cluster out.

Splicing in a couple extra inches is what I planned on doing. The truck is new to me so I don't know the history of it hence the gremlins i'm slowly finding.
