Need Advice (now with pics)

Hey guys, an interesting deal maybe in the making. I used to be a member here a few years back when I owned 2 4runners, but I forgot my user name lol. Anyways, I have the opertunity to get a free 89 4runner sr5. Its got a lift,33s,and i cant swear but i think it had a swapped in solid front axle.(cant promise). Its been sitting since 01 according to the plates. I knew it needed a transmission before I saw it. Well when I went to look at it, the top end was taken off (probably blow head gasket). Im unsure if all the parts are there. The rigs got potental. My deal is I cant go out and buy a reman or new motor and trans for it. I would have to find a something used I guess. What are my options? I know the basics of building motors (mostly chevy 350s). But I dont have any money set aside for the project really. I think I have around 500 bucks to play with maybe a lil more. I needs a deep cleaning inside and out.

I have two almost complete 22re's, and extra transfer case and either a w56 or g 52.

Think it over.
I need to move these extra parts and it would be ideal to sell locally

go for it to repair the 22re shouldnt cost much over 500 bucks but as far as other stuff it looks like it needs a lot of time and effort. but for free no matter whats wrong with it if you get it free you could always sell it on ebay if you have to. too bad its still IFS otherwis you could sell it easily for 1000

FREE is FREE! Take it. I've fixed up IH Scouts WAY worse than this. Just pay as you go so you're not kicking yourself for spending money you don't have. It may take some time, but so what.

Make sure the little lady doesn't know anything about it until you bring it home. That's how I do it anyway!

i agree. free is free. it may not be turn key, but it's still free. if you have the room to keep it while it's being fixed up and the trailer to get it home, sounds like a deal!
