Keensert question

Hey all, trying to repair threads on an exhaust bolt hole on my 20R head(M10 x 1.25, or 1.5, can't remember at the moment). The hole is so stripped that a standard size helicoil won't work. I heard keenserts are a bigger insert requiring a bigger pilot hole, so I want to try that. Problem is I can't find the things for sale anywhere! I did a pretty fair amount of googling, and searched around the Grainger website, I got nothin. Anyone have any ideas?

thanks in advance

you might want to check with some machine shops. They must have to use them!

Thanks for the tip. I can't believe how incredibly hard these are to find. It's like no one wants to sell them.

Thanks! Called them, they said they had to contact the manufacturer to see about the 1.25 pitch. Gonna e-mail me back.

Also found that heli-coil makes an oversize insert, but those seem just as hard to get. Just got off the phone with a fastener company called Olander, he said they had NEVER sold one of these before, and that if the Mnfr didn't have them in stock the lead time was 15-18 weeks! Although I don't want to it looks like it might be a lot easier to just go to an 11 or 12 mm bolt.

Sheesh.
