Clutch bracket compatability?
Hey everyone.
Quick question. The clutch bracket cracked on my 1990 pickup ext cab v6. I pulled a bracket out of a 1990 runner v6. They don't look the same though? The pickup one has a spring mechanism on it and the runner one doesn't?

Pictures would have been a great help!!
Could the spring have been removed from the one you took out of the 4Runner.
Are the mounting holes the same??
If it does not mount the same so things line up it won`t work
Why not just weld your cracked one ??

clutch bracket as in the pedal assembly or the clutch fork at the throwout bearing.

Yes. All 1981 - 1995 clutch forks are interchangeable.
The main thing to note is that after 1980 Toyota ended adjustable clutches across the board in Hilux pickups as well as Land Cruisers. 1979-1980 L43 I believe had a return spring on the cast iron clutch fork which was only needed for the adjustability feature (today we can only adjust the placement of the pedal, but back in the day you used to be able to adjust where the clutch engagement point was along the clutch pedal stroke at the plunger for the clutch master cylinder independent of the clutch pedal's location). Starting in 1981 when Toyota released the 22R, they did away with this added adjustability and switched over to a stamped steel fork design that is still used today.
As for the 1981-98 bearing cup, which Toyota calls a bearing hub, they are still being manufactured by Toyota and are available here: http://www.marlincrawler.com/clutch/...release-collar

I think I know what you're talking about. If it's that extra side bracket thingy towards the passenger side. My 88 don't have it. My 90 does. It looks like there should be a spring from it to the adjuster on the pedal. But the spring isn't there. And I don't know why it would ever need to be. Or what exactly the purpose of it is. That's a good question. I never even noticed it until you asked.
