Virus alert from forum administration

Do not fall for this.
Long long long ago before the creation of YotaTech I use to surf a local Pacific Northwest forum called Cascade Crawlers from by Chucki.
Some may even know him that are from the PNW.

Anyways, yesterweek I received a PM notification from his forum that was from LadyAdmin.
There is no lady admin, it is a ploy by virus bots or humans to trick you into clicking on the URL in the PM that states that they found out your PC was infecting their forum.
The URL may look legit, but it is not.

If you click it, a fake message will pop up (read our computer section on YotaTech to see threads on this) stating you need to click the OK button to scan your computer.
Once you do, you just gave them permission to install nasty viruses and malware on your computer.

Back to the topic...
I went to Cascade Crawlers a week back and the whole site was infested with spam bots posting, much like you will see here sometimes in the early morning hours before I or staff can ban the spammer.

I received two PMs again today that looks like it is from staff over there, but I know better.
Here is the title of the PM I just got:
New Personal Message: Important message from the forum administration!
Here is the contents:
You have just been sent a personal message by StopAdmin on Cascade Crawlers.

IMPORTANT: Remember, this is just a notification. Please do not reply to this email.

The message they sent you was:

Dear(s), corey!

A virus alert was noticed on your computer.
We highly recommend you to check your computer and perform online virus check at our site immediately: http://********.com
----------------------------------------------------
Sincerely, Forum Administration www.*******.com.
It is a bot again trying to get me to click the URL so they can infect me.
In my email the URL looks legit to their site, but it is not.
The hyperlink is faked so it will take you to be infected.

I feel sorry for him over there, have not spoken to him in years.
Not even sure if he is still running the site or not.

The point of this thread is that YotaTech staff will NEVER EVER PM OR EMAIL YOU to tell you that a virus or malware was detected on your computer.
If a bot does by chance get by us and start to PM you or post a thread, do not go to the URLs, and report the thread or the PMs to staff so we can ban the bots.

I have seen this happen on other forums too with the bots using the PM system to contact members to trick them.
Do not fall victim to them.
We may end up getting one of these bots here, and we will do everything in our power to ban them as soon as we or you see it to report to us.

There are so many people out there that fall victim to these type of tactics and they click the button to start the free scan and they just invited their computer to be taken over by hackers or to have malware (ads everywhere) on their computer.
This often is how other computers get infected then to start a DOS attack on sites such as we had happen to us a short time back where our server was overloaded and went to sleep for awhile, thus preventing us from using the site.
