pilot bearings for 22re for at or standard trans

hi im a newbie and have an 1985 4x4 pickup just acquired with all the motor parts in the back took it to a mechanic and had it all reassembled turns out the block that was used had a standard tranny and mine is an automatic and the pilot bearing is sticking out approx. 1/2 inch, upon checking the ring gear for the automatic is a lot thinner than the standard and cannot be bolted tight am I going to have to change this bearing or can it simply be driven in farther

That was painful to read. No punctuation and one big long run on sentence, not to mention vague.

Want to try that again...

I would take the bearing out , you wont need it . you have an automatic that doesn't require one , only manual trans needs this pilot bearing
