High idle...constant...charge light and e brake light came on at the same time

Have an 86 PU 4 speed 22r....when cold it would have a high idle until the carb warmed up and then pumping the gas would drop it to a smooth idle. Two days ago the end brake dash light and charge light were coming on intermittently...now on all the time and the truck is idling at a stand still around 2k rpm. Remand carb installed roughly six months ago...passed smog with flying colors..of course I am out of town when this happens. Through reading I have seen the AAP...fuel cut off solenoid...and vacuum lines. Replaced all vacuum lines when I did the carb.. and tips on a direction I should go? Thanks.

Red face

Trouble Shoot and repair your charging System Problem.

That might cure your High idle issue

Charge your battery with a battery charger

That light combo indicates a problem with the alternator. I think it's the same whether the system is overcharging or undercharging. Put a multimeter on the battery while the engine is running to figure out which. Overcharging, replace the voltage regulator on the alternator. Undercharging, replace the brushes.

The lights are the common signs of a failing alternator like Kylefoo mentioned.
