Fuel pump preference?
#3
Would you happen to have a link or a brand that was around $40 u have used with success? I have a parts rig I could pull one from but I'm not too fond of doing the same job twice...plus there's spiders involved and weather haha. also what hardware did u need that the pump didn't come with? can I reuse the old gasket if it hasn't broke? thanks

Hold on a minute here hardware is a pretty vague term.
If you live in the Southwest USA you should be fine.
Here in the Commonwealth of Pa every mid eighties 4x4 every fuel pump I changed the fuel pump bracket came apart in pieces all the fuel lines had to be replaced .
If you can buy fuel pumps with the brackets for $40.00 I will stock up.

Up here in ak, i have a parts truck with what im presuming has a stock(denso?) fuel pump i could rip out and hopefully attaching bracket if said one is spent. But the pump im looking at for30$ is a turbine compared to geared pump (turbine supposed to be quieter and reduce pulsation of fuel) Has anyone thats reading this switched fuel pumps from geared to turbine? Anyone have any luck? What have you guys used, what should I stay away from?
also its what to remove the bed...8 bolts and tank bracket and tail lights?

Leaning away from fuel pump....
Ok,leaning away from fuel pump now....
found misfire on cylinder 6, pulled out a clean plug, saved threads and reseated it FULLY.
Now still chugs to life but operates better, as should be expected, still kind of dogish in 2nd and 3rd tho. Slow acceleration, well not as good as my 4runner same motor, now the truck sat for 2 years and I only put in about 7 gallons of fresh gas to a half tank of old fuel and a half a bottle of seafoam to the tank. could yhe injectors be clogged a little? I still don't have fuel tank pressure after running it for 15 minutes around the neighborhood...thoughts? I was thinking might just be the fuel and slightly clogged injectors, if the pump was getting "weak" why would it still operate the way it doesnt, doesn't cut out or sputter just doggish...trying to do everything I can before removing the bed or tearing off the phelum to access injectors, should I just run it for a good while and see if it burns off anything and performance improves?
