For me, it depends.
I have not heard of toyotatruckengine.com.
I would go local if I was short on time and needed an engine pretty quick.
What engine do you have? The type of engine you have and your time frame can totally change your options.
For a 22R or 22R-E:
Some go with local machine shops, some go with LCE.
I would personally go with 22RE Performance for a 22R or 22R-E.

Local LOCAL!!
If there is some sort of defect or problem I want to deal face to face !!
Not pay freight to ship the engine 1000 miles to hear your problem is your fault you did not double check the rod bearing clearance or your assembled Long block
I have had friends go through these issues

Wyoming9 does have a point. It would be easier to warranty if the machine shop is local. You need to make sure your machine shop knows the 22R-TE. I am not knocking local machine shops. I am just saying do some research on them. Some machine shops are fantastic!
22RE Performance does 22R-TE engines too. The main reason I recommend them is the many great experiences other people have had with their engines. I have not bought an engine from them, but have bought parts. They were always nice and answered any questions I had. All they do are 22R series engines. They must know theses engines better than your average machine shop.
I am not sure about machine shops, but most places that warranty their products do not pay for the return shipping.

Unless you have a written Contract stating seller will pay return shipping it is the buyers responsibility to return the product .
Something small it is no big deal a engine is a completely different story .
Unless your lucky enough to work or own a company with Common Carrier accounts a dock to load it on the trailer .
It is a personal thing I just find it a pain.
We have not even touched on shipping damage which can add weeks to the adventure .
We each do what works best .
