He has IFS...
Having never converted ADD to manual hubs is it posssible he missed something on his conversion?

Plus if you rebuilt them why is there old grease in there?

Yes my truck is an IFS truck, I only rebuilt the aisin hubs themselves, nothing else. So what does everyone recommend as far as stopping this grease from coming out and waterproofing that part of the hub? I'm lost as to what to do unless I should just use the RTV

mine is IFS also, just repack hub, put new gasket and a thin coat or RTV and call it good I dont have any issues with mine leaking. but i think i did put some rtv on mine.

Specifically Aisin hubs. You can get a pair from a yota yard and strip em, clean em, grease em, install new gasket sets and slap em on. I think I picked up some used ones for $55 plus shipping from: http://yodajims.com/Yoda_Jims/Photos.html

Waiting on the front 7.5" gears to be swapped out by Yukon. The ring gear was not machined correctly for the mounting bolts.

After it's together, I will install the manual hubs.

i did a search but didnt come up with the info i needed.i just installed 1.5" bj spacers and i want to swich to manual locking hubs.Im going to the jy tomorrow in search of a set just wanted to know what tools are needed and what do i need off donor truck.from my search this is what i found: i need internal/external snap ring pliers,allen keys and sockets.Please let me know if i need any additional tools and if i need anything other than the hub assembly

don't forget the large hub socket as well. Might need a mallet/hammer too in case the cone washers don't want to cooperate. Gonna also need a flathead screw driver to unlock the star washer as well.

what year is your rig? 84-85 trucks have a different number of splines then 86-88 trucks.

you can identify them but the hub dials.

you can see here the solid front axle hub dials extend out past the mounting ring, as ifs hub dials sit flush with the ring.

awesome thanks for the info guys,anyone know what size socket is needed?.i have a 1991 toyota xtra cab with a 3.0l v6 and a 5 speed manual and yes it still has ifs.i owned this truck 4 years ago then sold it to my cousin.i recently traded my trans am for the truck plus cash.so far i swapped 4.88 front diff and rear 3rd,full tune up,trans and clutch(bad synchros),shocks,1.5" lift,ball joints,tie rod ends and i am about to get tires and alignment soon.

good call xxxtreme. what you want to look for is the syle of the dial, it indicates how many splines the hubs are. i beleive ifs is 30 splines? not sure if thats right though.

I would just stick to an 86-95 truck/4runner that hasn't been SAS'd as your probably not gonna see too many SFA trucks that have switched to IFS style hubs in the JY as those are usually the ones that get parted out before hitting the yards, if not they are picked over by the workers anyway.

i did find a sas truck with a complete front end in the jy,its very tempting lol but i mostly drive through the mountains to go shooting or take my 4 wheeler out so the ifs should do fine for my needs.i appreciate the advice everyone ill let u know what i find tomorrow

You don't need to mess with 54mm nut or the star washer if you're only taking off the locking hubs (freewheeling hubs in the FSM) Just a socket for the nuts over the cone washers, socket for the dial cover bolts, socket for the bolt/washer inside, and as mentioned hammer and brass drift for the cone washers themselves. The rest can be disassembled at home when you have all of your tools.
