Don't know 22r carbs at all. But other car and bike carbs I have dealt with in the past your issues indicates an air leak based on your description of "keep the carb from getting too much air". Are all gaskets in good shape? Have you tried to spray carb cleaner around the base of the carb while it's running. If it races or dies when you spray an area you found an air leak. Just an idea.

This is what I was going to say having just read the whole thread. Did you check the carb base and manifold to see if they are flat/level?
The thing with the carb kinda sounds like that base was twisted somehow and making the part stick open.

Did you ever free up the butterfly?

Swapped out the the bottom for a new one yesterday when I finished up the rebuild, all gaskets are brand new. Spraying Carb cleaner all over and there is no change in the idle. I'm not sure if you guys noticed my hand in the videos. So as of now, rebuilt carb, new plugs, timing checked, fuel
pump is putting out, and fuel bowl is in the center of sight glass

Not sure what to say. I don't have a carbed truck anymore so I can't go out and look around to see what might be what...sometimes I can visualize what might be happening when I'm familiar with something, but it's been too long since I've had a car. If the carbs getting too much air then either the butterfly isn't closing or there's a leak. If you keep it running long enough to warm up, will it stay running then without covering the carb?

Did you spray down your vacuum lines as well. It's probably either a stuck B-fly or an air leak in the vacuum advance.

I did spray the vacuum plugs/lines that's remaining, no change in idle response, I can get it up to temp and still no change, all butterflies are moving freely after rebuild.
