1990 toyota 3.0 4runner water pump replacement
Water pump is bad. Had to replace timing belt a year ago and they didnt replace the water pump. My question is Can I replace the water pump with out removing the crank pulley ? I'm asumming the timing belt is still good.

If you read your Haynes manual, it'll tell you the sequence. Page 3-3 in fact. Which says Yes, timing belt's gotta come off. I also know this 'cuz I just did this last week.....

Water Pump Done !

I replaced the water pump and thermostat. It wasnt to to bad, just time consuming. I also I'm glad I did it myself because the place (KP automotive) that did the timing belt a year ago should have replaced the water pump. They also left a couple of bolts loose and the timing belt tensioner should have been tighter. THEY SUCK ! I didnt have to pull the crank pulley to remove the water pump, which made this job a little easier. Thanks to all the feedback !
Thanks Mike

how long did this take I'm determining whether to have somebody do this, or doing it myself.

I wasnt in a big hurry, but I think you could spend at least 5 hours for the first time. The $$$$ savings is worth it to me.

I've tackled enough stuff I've figured out that I like to wrench when I want to & not when I have to lol. the guy I bought this from gave me $$$ off because he said he saw it leaking, but I've put 200 miles on it, and I haven't had any problems. I will probably keep driving it, and see if I can do it myself in a couple months.
