1980 toyota 4x4 carb problem w/r22

Hello all, Im new to toyotas but I baught a farm last year and the land came with a bunch of equp. and the little truck. well I have just now had a chance to check it out and after putting a batt. on it and a little gas in the carb it fired right up. T he problem is it will not stay running, it burns the gas that I pour in it and then dies.
this is what iv done to this point.
1st Iv changed the filter, checked all lines dumped and added new gas in the tank and checked the fuel pump.
I get gas at the carb but it does not seem to be getting into the barrels.
the truck had sit for 3 years and a rat has chewed some of the wires into and im not sure if this may have something to do with the problem. thanks and sorry for the long post

oh and heres a pic of it

I'd repair the wiring first. Since we don't know what exactly it controls without doing some research on wiring schematics, it wouldn't hurt anything and it might help.
If the truck sat for 3 years not running, the fuel tank may need to be emptied of all the old, dead gas. Your tank may have a drain plug - if so then you won't have to remove the tank.
Then, check to see if you get fuel actually pumping when the engine is cranking. Disconnect the fuel line at the carb and have someone crank it while you hold the fuel line into a container. You should get gas flowing while cranking.
To check the carb, run a gravity-fed fuel system straight to the carb to see if it's working. This will bypass all the tank, filter, pump and lines to remove them from the equation. Just take a small gas can, insert a rubber fuel hose into it and plug the other end into the fuel inlet on the carb. Crank engine, and see what happens.

Sounds like your needle is stuck in it's seat, hence no fuel is flowing into the float bowl. Recommendation is do everything 2Wheeler said along with rebuilding the carb. Three years of sitting will surely gum up orifices, jets, air/fuel passages, etc.
You may have multiple issues that need top be corrected......
