Tundra rotors and calipers?

All,

I'm purchasing a '05 SR5 AWD V8 4Runner, and it has warped brake rotors... So I'm thinking rather than replace rotors and pads and have it happen again- I've heard that I can replace with the larger 231mm rotors and calipers from a Tundra model. Anyone done this?

How about you just make the dealership replace the rotors and pads before you purchase it?

That's only for 3rd gen 4Runners and similar year Tacomas. I would guess the brakes on an '05 V-8 4Runner are as big or bigger than the Tundra brakes 3rd gen guys use.

Because I'm not buying it from a dealer. I'm getting a sick deal from a private party, and the fact that it needs brakes was a negotiating point.

Really? I know there are two sizes for the 4th gen, only way to tell is if you have 16 or 17 inch wheels... Which I'm not sure about...

Also, I noticed you're in Los Alamos- My Wife is from there, and her family lives in White Rock. Small world!

Possibly, but one way or another the "Tundra Brake Upgrade" is not for you.

The '05 uses 13WL calipers (231mm) on the 16" wheels and 13WH calipers on the 17" wheels. That would indicate the same rotors as the Tundra too.
