I was cruising up 86 the othe day up hill I passed a Schwanns truck, I was so proud of my beautiful well capable gutless wonder.... but he got me at the light so I ended up behind him anyways.
I mean really should you HAVE to downshift to go down hill? lol...

cEElint...lol...you must not have a 3vz-e.....lol... I was just making a remark on how fast the schwanns truck was...it did take me at the light though, but I DID pass it.
I'ts not that I cant get up to speed...its waiting to get there that sucks.
I was joking about the down hill dwnshift...lol... my 3vz doesnt run bad at all for 192k. I knew when I bought the runner that it had the pokey in it. Gutless dependability!!!
I can get up to 80 or 85 on the hwy, it actually runs really well at that speed, of course thats cause its pulling about 3500 rpm. Which seems to be right in the range of my power band. I seem to get my best performance between about 2700rpm to 3800 rpm.
anyways I thought it would be good for a few laughs. True story tooo! lol...
I am going to try a small turbo charger(t3-4) and see how long it takes to BLOW it up. I just hope it will run smooth without getting the bigger injectors. I am about to purchase another 3vz-e to tear down and see just exactly what is possible for building some power in this thing. I would love to do a 3.4 swap, but screw the headache harness and fabs. I'm gonna crank and cam, go .020 over on the block, and if the turbo works out....well, you get the picture.
I chose to build a 3.0 because I can just swap without the headache of trial and error swap on a diff. motor.
I'll keep you all posted, of course, as it comes along.

any comments are welcome. HELP is ALWAYS appreciated!!!

1/4 mile in what , about 28 seconds?...lol..at about say...45 mph?....j/k....I AM PROUD OF MY BEAUTIFUL SLUG! this f***er at cirkle K in a jeep x(ha ha ha ha) was talking trash about how slow and incapable my runner would be compared to his HEEP. Yeah hes got a bit of balls in his 4.0 I6 but a wrangler X.....ha ha ha ha....it was stock as mine too.....some balls....his HEEP wont even drive more than two tires at a time!...
anyways, I told him to laugh it up cause I'll be on channel 12 on the c.b. when hes ready to get pulled out.....he laughed....well...as he's smokin tires a pair at a time I crawled over the nastiness next to him and around putting my arm out the window I said " gimme five tough guy!" as I was crawling over the he was trying to go AROUND!
I laugh when ppl say that a 4runner isnt as capable as other 4x4's...." you obviously never owned one" is the perfect reply. Or be lucky enough as I was to encounter such a proud jeep, bronco, etc... braggart a second time as you wheel around him in the muck, mud, rock, whatever it may be... just had to share.
But it just goes to show you, if its in the way...go around it and watch them curse you as you do. yea, it's gutless, but in some ways that might be best as well. I mean look how hard you would have to work to blow the damn thing up! not enough power to smoke the tires in 2 whl or 4 hi, think of the money I'm saving and the torture I'm refraining from causing my runner without boocoo power....
But I am an old v8 guy and well...thats enough savings....pop a wheelie!
....anyone ever BUILT up a 3.0?....would love some advice.

To be honest, I think you'd be in more uncharted territory putting a t3 on the 3vz than you would be swapping a 3.4. The biggest fabrication issue I had was the exhaust crossover, and that's mainly because Downey didn't have any headers in stock 'cause they're a slow mover for them. The wiring harness isn't too bad, from what I hear. I cheated because I couldn't figure out an EWD if you held a gun to my head, but there's a couple guys out there that can do wiring harnesses, it wasn't just ORS that could do it.

Also, there are a couple guys that have built up the 3.0, and there's a guy who put a GNX turbo system on the 3.0 too.

do you know if there is an after market harness that converts 3.0 to 3.4?
I mean there does seem to be quite of bit of fab. and headache parts runs on turbo conversion.

I think I'll just stick to the guns and BUILD a 3.0 with a bit more BEEF. its hard enough to get to the wires as it is, specifically 1 and 4,,,is that right?...

do some searches on here. some guys dump a couple grand into the motor and only net around 15 horsepower. the 3.4 and it's computer is much more receptive to modifications. and for the few grand you could put into the 3.0 you could buy a supercharger for the 3.4 and have over 225 horsepower.

Try 35" Mickey T MTZ's, going five miles an hour it throws stuff.

I've only had my runner a short while, but was amazed to find that in 5th gear it pulls 3000 rpm's at 65 mph. Is this normal? As far as I know the 31 inch tires are stock for my 95 SR5. My Ford windstar does 2000 RPM's in overdrive at 70 mph. No wonder the gas mileage in the runner is horrible. Does the 3vz-e need the rpm's for the power? I guess that's a dumb question.

Perfect. The 3vze is at peak horse power at about 2750rpm and max torque around 3,200rpm or so. Try driving in 5th gear at 2,000rpm....

Gear her lower, your mileage goes to crap once your over 50mph anyways....
