Wont start. Please help real time
My brother has a 1995 pick up with a 3.0 and a 5-speed. At first earlier today in ran bad and wouldn't go over 35mph. Now it won't start. Cracked open the fuel line at the injector and cranked the truck and fuel is coming out. Sprayed starting fluid in the throttle body and it starts, then dies. I am having him pull codes now by jumping TE1 and E1 on the diagnostic bay. It seems as if he has spark and fuel but its not starting. Let the opinions fly. I am trying to get him going via cell phone so I dont have to drive the hour to look at it myself. Thanks in advance.

He has checked all the fuses and they are good. He pulled his cel code and its a 21 which is O2 sensor. He has had that for a while now, but that wouldn't stop the truck from starting, would it?

The EFI fuse is not blown and we jumpered terminals 3&5 on the EFI relay and that made no difference. Would a bad cold start injector be the cause? I only ask because it was running. Running like crap, but running. Now it will only start under ether, and dies right away when the ether is pulled away.

My brother is convinced that it is the cold start injector. Can anyone confirm or refute the possibility of the cold start injector?

I assume you disconnected the VAFM to do this. The truck will not run with the VAFM disconnected because it needs airflow through the meter to keep the Circuit Opening Relay energized to run the fuel pump.
