Won't keep running
I just bought a 1992 4runner and it worked great. I just got done putting a new stereo in it and now when I start it it start good then shuts down. On my 2001 silverado it did this when I changed out the steering colum. It was the computer I had it tow it to the dealer to have the computer reset. I didn't remove any thing with the colum in this truck. Any help I need to move the 4runner and I can't.

Did you disconnect the battery while messing with the stereo? If not then you may have caused an issue with the ECU (heck anything is possible on these rigs).
My advice is to either pull the ECU fuse for about 4 minutes or disconnect the battery for the same amount of time. The ECU might reset.

Well I disconected the batt for about 15 min. And hooked it back up and nothing it starts up and runs for a second and then shuts down. How do I find out if there is a code? On my olds I can use a paper clip and it will tell me what codes are coming up.

I should have asked this first. What engine is in there?
You can jumper the T and E1 connections (I think, you might want to search) and get the codes. I also did some reading on "start then stop" problems (through a search of this site) and came up with a couple of things.
1) The relay to the fuel pump has gone out. You can verify this using the "paper clip mod" although I don't know how to do so. (search)
2) There is a leak in the intake plumbing. I read this from a guy that had a V6 and there is a clamp that came loose letting in more air than the engine wanted so the ECU would cut the fuel. He could get it to run for a little while if he stood on the skinny pedal.
Can you keep yours running by using the gas pedal or does it still die?

Ok, guys I know I am new to this site, but I do usally know my way around under the hood. But I feel really stupid today. I am leaving this message for anybody that has this problum. The problum was when I took the air cleaner lid off and put the new filter in, there is another tube underneth the big tube going to the throtle body, and the clamp was loss so it fell off. So you could say I had a LITTLE air leak. Lol thanks for all the help guys. Keep your eyes up and your wheels down.
