Wondering what this white cable is?

I loaned my 90 Yota 4runner and when I got it back the person driving it decided to "work" on it...well no I have this white cable that has been cut but I have no idea where it goes to and what it is for....it runs along drivers door under the rug obviously and looks like it runs to the back of the truck...all the lights work in the back and the gate window goes up and down....so whats it for...?? any ideas??

Picture is worth 1000 words. Maybe an old stereo wire?

Solid copper wire? Like the stuff you find in a house? Yank it out and recycle it. There are no wires in any toyota vehicle that I'm aware of that consist of a solid copper wire. All the original wires should be stranded

Follow it to where it goes. It's probably some hackjob stereo or light install. There are no solid wires originally installed on the truck. If it actually goes to something, fix it right. If it doesn't do anything, remove it and put it in the copper bucket for the next scrap run.

I assume your fuel gauge is working properly? On my Camaro the fuel sender wire is a solid copper wire.

I just replaced the fuel gauge sending unit in my 87 4Runner. No solid wires.

Solid as opposed to stranded? If so, it does not belong on a vehicle.
