Windshield Rust

Today I decided to get a new windshield installed. I started with trim removal. I am going with a universal rubber trim that will replace the chrome. The question is,after cutting all the old rubber butyl trim around the window and removing old clips I have rust to clean up, does anyone have a good recommendation for coating the rust in the channel around the windshield before they come and install the new one?? Black Rustoleum paint is what I have think that is good enough??

POR15 or any kind of anti-porous paint is your best bet. Frame coating is really the best.

Well you can ask them if they do, but you're better off just putting on something you know is on there.

Is your windshield leaking at all, or are you just trying to slow down the rust before installing the new windshield?

The windshield isn't leaking yet but yes trying to slow things down. Just getting new windshield so I can see better, have about 4 cracks,3 "bullet holes" and tons of pitting. It may leak now after all the carving and scraping of goo and rust.

Sparky my shop help and friend installs glass and a reputable glass company will fix the rust, stop it with preventative coatings and install a leak free windshield. If not you got ripped off.

Done dozens of my Toyotas through Sparky with no problems.
