window motor not working

I have a 91 and the electric window has stopped moving. I cleaned all the switches and contacts. When I hit the down button the voltmeter goes down so I know its drawing amps so the motor must be bad. Question is how do I disconnect the motor from the regulator and pull it out of the door? Any write ups on motor replacement? I did a search and found only the rear window fix.

Before I replaced the motor I'd check out all the mechanical drive. If it is jammed somewhere (and dirt is all it takes), the motor will not be able to turn it and it will draw plenty of amps.

Thanks, Ill try. I can guess the motor doesnt go bad often since not many forum users post it as a problem. So maybe I do have some crud stuck in the drive gears.

I'm running into the same problem with my 95 4runner, except I can hear the motor turning, but the window won't go up or down, it's currently stuck with about an 8th of an inch opening at the top. If you find anything online send me a quick message

i don't know if it will work on a toyota window motor, but you might see if it will come apart. if it will try cleaning it up and re greasing it. a friend of mine has done this to dodge window motors with good results.

Are you able to get the window to go down if you gently push on the top while the window motor is turning? Does the window lurch a little up or down when you try to make it move? If not, I bet that the gear on the motor is either not spinning or has no teeth anymore.
