Will start but wont idle

i just put a new Cylinder head, timing chain, oil pump, and water pump on my 22RE but when we went to crank it it just wouldnt turn over for awhile. after many attemps to start it it finally started but it wont idle on its own. Anyone now what might be the cause of this?

Ignition timing? If you don't have a timing light, you can't get it close enough to run.

Rotor alignment? Did you align it at 11 o'clock? After that, and setting ignition timing, make sure you didn't leave any vacuum hoses detached and everything vacuum related is sealed well. When I last did my timing chain/eng. rebuild, I didn't get the cold start injector switch sealed well to the plenum and it wouldn't idle well at all......of course.

I do have a metal pipe that runs coolent behind the engine that leaks fairly good. It goes into the underside of the intake but the problem is the bolts broke of in the holes and it wont tighten up so it drips

Well, certainly that should be fixed, but what I was referring to is vacuum hoses and things that attached to the plenum. A coolant leak such as that wouldn't prevent the engine from idling.
