Will a 2wd box fit a 4x4

I found a rust free box from a 91 2wheel drive extended cab (even right color). Will it fit my 89 4x4 extended cab truck? I found another thread that suggests a 2wd is the same as a 4 wd from the cab back.

doors, cabs, and beds are all the same. 2wd fenders and grills are different than 4wds that's pretty much it body wise.

Yes, is the short answer. Tire coverage may be an issue with the local constable.

ok I thought I had the answer til drmomaniac posted. Are you saying the box is different because of the flares?

Yeah, sorry I wasnt very clear. I would have to double-check, but I remember the 3rd gen 2wd beds having less depth to the flares.

I've got a 2nd-gen, 2wd, japanese-style box on my truck and it's a huge difference. It looks pretty sweet, IMHO, but I'm working on fabbing up some homebrew metal flares because the rear tires stick out maybe 4-5".

The mounting HW will all be the same. That was even the case for me, and my bed is a different generation and from a different market.

Edit: I'm looking at photos and honestly cant tell the difference between 2wd and 4wd flares.
Edit again: looks like they're identical, which would mean that Toyota changed this in 89, since previous model trucks have visibly diferent flares.

Buy it!

yep, 89-95 boxes are identical. I have a 91 4wd and a 92 2wd, both exactly the same.
