Where's the Fuel Filter? '89 4runner V6

It's raining outside and she's parked in the mud. I can't see anything from on high. Would be cool if t was on the frame and not hidden under the manifold. -- Matt

PS It's my first 3vze powered vehicle.

not sure if it's the same spot as i have a 93 runner but same engine; look under the driverside on the inside of the frame about where the front door hinge is...

On my 89 it's on the passenger side frame rail. Look on the inside frame rail around or just behind the door...

Passenger side, inside of the frame rail, right behind the front torsion bar mount point, were the adjuster is for the torsion bar.

Thanks everybody. You have given me what I hope is good news (that it's not buried under the manifold). BTW I have Toyota factory manuals for both the 4runner and truck for '89. I didn't see anything on the fuel filter in there. -- Matt

yeah, toyota doesn't recommend ever changing the fuel filter but seems like a good idea to me every 10yrs at least. it's pretty cheap and it's a filter... hmmm....

Whats the problem? Why do you need to get at the fuel filter?

I bought the 4runner in need of some work. It's running pretty bad, so I'm trying to eliminate all the easy stuff, like cap & rotor, filters, compression test, vacuum test, timing, TPS, AFM, etc. If I had a fuel pressure tester I'd run the test; for now I'm replacing the filter. BTW> Autozone will sell a tester for around $150.00 and the issue a refund when the tester is returned. I'm debating (mostly with myself) whether I should go that route or buy this one for $45.00 and keep it. -- Matt
