Where to get COAX for code 52?
I ve heard lots of you guys talk about using coax cable to go from the KS to the ECU. WHat kind of cable are you using axcatly? links or pics to it? where to get it? how much does it cost?

its a quick fix that may or may not work, in a nutshell you route a different KS to the block and to the ECU with the cable, search the forums thers quite a few threads that talk about this! I would like to try thisa route before i go to the trouble of taking my intake off!

As shansethp implies, the wire from the knock sensor to the ECM is (stock) shielded. The ECM is trying to pick up a very small signal, and under the hood is electrically a very noisy environment. Since impedance matching is probably not a big factor, if I had to cob together something I'd just use some RG-59 (vanilla "cable TV" wire) because almost every apartment dumpster has some in it. If you were serious about it, you might do better (thinner) with microphone cable.
But if shansethp plans to hook up a second sensor somewhere other than on the block itself (engine hanger?), I really doubt that would work. I know others have talked about it, but I've never seen/heard of anyone actually making it work. The sensor is located in its out-of-the-way location for a reason.

Hey scope103, would you happen to know where exactly i need to tie in the cable to the ECU at? i remember reading somebody did it in pin 18??? but they also said they thought it was dependent on which year truck you have(mine is 95 3vze). i ask this because my motor has been rebuilt and there is a mess of wires that all look the same that also houses these KS wires and they are all bundled togewther with just electrical tape(which could be part of my problem maybe) and am dreading going through that mess more than fixing the code 52 itself.....lol. Any help would be much appreciated!!

The copper wire (inside of the coax cable) goes to the KNK in the ECU, and I would recommend soldering a short wire to the outside wire mesh and connecting/grounding it near the ECM. This worked for my 93.
