Where is the dipstick supposed to be?
I recently rescued an 89 4Runner from being parted out. I have done a little here and a little there and things are coming along nicely. Amazing what can be accomplished with a little TLC and patience.
I have hit the wall on the simplest thing, I don't know where the dipstick is supposed to be on the 3.0 V6. I have located the Auto Tranny dipstick but I have drank a lot of beer staring at the engine compartment looking for the oil dipstick???
Engine runs and I can drive it now but no dipstick I can easily see?

It should be on the driver's side of the block right under the engine mount and between the oil filter and oil cooler; at least that's where the whole in the block is.
The dipstick itself is right behind the distributor with a yellow handle (barely visible in this pic):
You can kind of see it here under the cruise control cable:
Sorry I don't have a better picture, but these were the best ones I have from before I pulled the 3.0.

Found it! Thank You SacRunner! The dipstick is gone but I did find the tube where it is supposed to be. Just another item I will need from the bone yard.
