Whats up? Do I need a sway bar?

Hey hows it going guys I'm new to the forum, and new to toyotas. I used to be a chevy guy, but I think I've converted to the dark side . Anyways I just bought my yoda last week and haven't had time to give it a full inspection. And my question is, was the front anti sway bar optional on the 1995 SR5 4runners? B/c I don't have one lol.

No they weren't optional. Somone just took it off for ya.

Its a good thing to have if you have a lift, or are mostly on road. But lots of people take them off and like it without. Better ride off road for sure, just way less control on road.

Id like to think that WE are the light side! Haha

You dont need a sway bar, I dont run one. It body rolls a little on sharp turn, but its nothing to be concerned with.

Well far as I know it doesn't have a lift. It came with 32" tires and people think I have a lift. It has the rear sway bar still which is the one I figured might be taken off for more of an off road "flex". It was a pretty good find in my opinion. The exterior is faded, but the interior doesn't look like its been touched. Has the original 71,000 miles. came with brand new mud tires. According to the vin it has 4.875 gears. But the door jam tag says its suppose to have 225/75/15 tires, but online it say it came stock with 31" tires. I mainly bought it to go mudding with my buddy that has a jeep.

I took the sway bar off both of my rigs, barely even notice its gone.

Remove it and see what you think then. I'll bet you never put it back on. WabFab has disconnects for the best of both worlds.

I use mine as a daily driver as well, and haven't missed my front swaybar at all. I used to run the rear so it would limit the rear flex and help force the front to flex a little more, but since I installed my E-locker I don't have it any more, either. I've had to do a couple highway speed evasive maneuvers and have never felt like it was leaning in an unsafe manner. That's with stock suspension, ball joint spacers and OME coil springs, and now with the ball joint spacers and 1.25" coil spacers and stock springs.

Mudding.... That's one way to ruin a rig.

If you plan on towing then leave it on. if not. File 13 that thing!

I have the front sway bar off my truck. Granted, it leans, still its DDable. I wouldn't remove the rear one. and I plan on keeping the rear on even when I SAS and leaf the rear.
