What is this thing called?
What is this thing? I know it is part of a shifter linkage but does anyone know the technical name of it? Also where can I get one? If anyone has one for sale consider it sold and pm me. Thank you to all ~Derek

As you can tell from the picture the joint inside the shaft is off center and does not line up parallel with the housing it sits in. Also with movement(by hand) I can recreate the sound that I hear when driving. It has much more movement then is necessary for smooth movement of any shaft. Kinda like a worn ball joint. Excessive movement i believe is what mechanics would call it. I was not asking if it is bad but what it is called so I can order one or replace it. If you know I would greatly appreciate you knowledge.

When asking for a random part it helps to specify a few things such as:
-year of truck
-engine
-auto or manual transmission
as far as sources google turned up sources like:
http://www.yotayard.com/
http://www.davezoffroadperformance.com/contact.html i have bought used stuff from him before
http://www.calminitruck.com/
there is ton more out there
also consider getting a photobucket.com account...those little thumbnails suck
edit: you can also try going to the link to online service manuals in my signature

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me. So that is the 4wd drive linkage assembly and makes it possible for the shifter to be on the opposite side of the truck as the transfer case. Thank you for helping me out with this. ~Derek

Do you have a body lift? That linkage attaches to the body at the top and when I installed a 1" BL on mine I had to lower that attachment point to keep the linkage pivot point working good.
