That screws in to the back of the fuel rail.

malteserunner, thanks.

alright heres another problem, I had to order a new fuel rail on eBay and this does not fit on the new one. What kind of options do I have? Should I try to get an adapter of some sort? enlarge the existing threads on the fuel rail?

Get the right one for your new fuel rail. If memory serves me correctly, it's called a fuel damper. Do you know what year the fuel rail you got came from?

I edited my last post to correct the name of that part. There are two part numbers available, 23270‑35010 and 23270‑42010. Find out which one you have, and you'll likely need the other one.

I would try going to a pull a part and go in and see if they have a 4runner or truck with one on it. If they do go back outside and get your fuel rail out of the truck and have them mark it saying you brought it in and then take it off and see if it will thread into your new fuel rail. This could save you a good bit of money if you have the free time to go to a pull a part. I also always end up finding something else that I might could use like switches or little interior things.

UPDATE: cause I hate threads that never come to a solution.

Okay so I got it figured out, the piece I have in my hand goes in the front of the fuel rail and hooks up the fuel line, that's why it wouldn'tP fit in the back of the fuel rail.
