What is this part?
I have looked in my Haynes manual can can't figure out what this is. The part I am interested in is the black box which the cable coming out one end and wires on the other. The wires go through the firewall and the cable goes to the same linkage as the throttle cable. I have never see the cable move. It is slack every time I look at it.

that's about the only thing it could possibly be is a cruise ontrol box...
not having cruise control, I cannot back that up though...
"is it OEM" is another question though... the non-sleeved wires lead me to believe it's not an original part and may have been installed by the PO... can you find TOYOTA stamped anywhere on it? it so, it's more than likely got a part # stamped on it too... if you can find it, try to google the part #

that doesn't look stock, could be an aftermarket alarm system. Do you have one?
The cruise control box in my 93 4Runner (V6) looks nothing like that and the cable for it is nowhere near that gimpy. Same gauge as the throttle cable.

I've never seen on a Toy, also if it was factory that rainbow of wires coming from it would be wrapped in something (unless of course a covering was ripped off). Actually looking closer, that wiring doesn't look like its coming from it. I can't tell, but either way it doesn't look factory.

It's an aftermarket cruise control setup.
Here's another one, though it looks a little different.

The previous owner probably lost the in-cab module.

I didn't even know I had cruise control. I can't find any switches in the cab for it. I went and looked and found three switches/ buttons I hadn't seem before And I only what one is for, it's the valet switch for the alarm. The previous owner did a lot of extra wiring.

It's an aftermarket cruise control and the cable is not hooked up correctly at the throttle. It needs to follow the throttle cable around the bellcrank. And they are usually tied together just off of the bell crank with a very small cable tie.

If you find a model number on the cruise control unit itself you can probably find a control module for it - there is going to be a plug under the dash somewhere that those multi-colored wires go to. Maybe. If it still works.
