what are a good brand for shocks
hey guys, on my 92 pickup im in need of some new front shocks, one is completely finished, im not sure if i have a lift on my truck or not, although with 31" tires it looks like it, i was just wondering what kind i should look into> i dont do any off roading, and this is my daily driver, and the roads here are lol.. i dont want to spent a load of money, just something that works well and looks good. thx

How much is too much? For about $50 a shock I would put the Doetsch Pre-runner shocks up front with the MV-12 versions in the rear.

I put Tokico trekmaster shocks on my 4runner, waaay better than the monroe's that were on it cornering, braking, and pothole performance improved dramatically. I found a good price at carpartswholesale.com I have had good luck with them even though they didn't send all tha parts on the first order but it was cleared up and they shipped the remainder right away.

Beware of Pro Comps.
If you enjoy being beaten up, then Pro Comp ES3000s are for you. The ride is pretty rough on road. The shocks are WAY too stiff for the rear and ALOT too stiff for the front.
That said, they do a good job controlling the ride offroad as they really don't allow any bouncing around- which I really don't like off road.
Basically, if your truck is mostly off road, then Pro Comps are decent and cheap. If you dare to venture on a bumpy paved road, schedule a weekly back massage. You say you don't do any off roading, then go for Monroe Reflexes, Tokico Trekmasters- they are mostly on road shocks and ride well from everything I've read.

The "old crap" that was on there probably had been leaking fluid for the last decade or so. When I bought my truck last year, I took it to the dealer to check for recalls. There weren't any, but they had noted it was due for shocks back in 2000 as the one's on there were done D-O-N-E- back in 2000! Anything was better than the ride those gave.
I've ridden in Jay's truck and for hat ever reason, the rear doesn't "kick up" when the rear goes over a bump the same way mine does. Longer wheel base perhaps. Anyways, I personally don't like my P-C ES3000s

I had checked over the old crap, didnt look like they had leaked anything. Just really worn out.
My truck is pretty smooth over bumps at speed. But its a truck, I never expected it to ride like a caddy!
as for the "kick" It might be the worn leafs

I have an old pair of rancho 9000's (5 settings) on mine, at least one side on the front is shot (think from that fire i had) But other than that i like to be able to adjust the shocks! Handle great, soft if you want, stiff if you want.
But expensive.
Im going to highjack for a second because i have asked a couple times and no answer. What shocks are good for a 4" lift? (LC coils in rear) Also, do you know if i can use the stock length rear shocks up front after i put the lift on?
Thanks
