any one know where it is located at on a 1988 toyota truck v6 4x4

back of the motor on top by the heater hoses that go to the heater core.

once i got to looking there are three plugs back there one i know it not right differnt type of connecter on top the other too look just alike one has the cable going to the passanger side the other goes on the driver side any one happen to know what one it is

It's not going to be in the same spot on all 3VZEs. So to find it, you'll have to know what it looks like.

This is what the coolant temp sender looks like.


This is what the coolant temp sensor looks like.


In the pic below the coolant temp sender is the one on the far left, which may or may not be where it is on yours. The coolant temp sensor(not shown)would be in the open hole. The one in the middle(black top) is the cold start injector time switch. The coolant temp switch is circled in red. The one on the far right is the TVV/BVSV for the EVAP.
