I just bought a 14" dynomax super turbo muffler from http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/17...oductId=744698 It flows better than stock and sounds just a little better but is not loud at all. I am very happy with it. The rest of my exhaust is stock 2" piping and when I was looking for a muffler it took me a while to decide on this one due to cost vs. loudness but I'm very happy I went with the super turbo. It's pretty much exactly what you're looking for I bet.

have you driven with it on the highway? the only thing that really bothers me is that drone you get on long drives. ill be running a 2" exhaust and an LCE header. the super turbo is the second "quietest" if you look on the sounds of dynomax http://www.dynomax.com/soundsofdynomax.php

sound clip!!?

I get no drone whatsoever, it sounds just like stock just a little nicer when you rev it. But if you're running a LCE Header I imagine it will be louder than mine is. If you keep the cat I bet it will be fine though. Remember these are only small 4 cylinder engines, they won't get that loud. Honestly, I was looking for a cheap, quiet, non-stock muffler and I thought the super turbo would be a lot louder.

do you drive a 4runner or a pickup? im wondering if there will be more resonance inside the 4runner cabin since it is larger.

single cab pickup, I would think there would less noise in a 4Runner than a pickup

The inside of the 4R resonates. It's actually quieter with the top off.

I have the dynomax turbo as well, I just got it and pruney is right. There is no more drone inside my 4runner than there was with the stock muffler, the dynomax just has a performance sound to it. I would say the dynomax is barely louder than my stock muffler was and it is quiet on the highway. I noticed no difference in the highway noise at all.

Let us know. I think it's a quality performance muffler for a good price. I paid about $57.00 shipped I think.

Get the dynomax, no drone at all and a decent sound when revving it. You can't beat the price either.

almost done the install, im scared that it might sound ricer! i hope you guys are right. half the videos i watch on youtube sound nice and quiet some sound gross. hopefully the cat is the dealmaker that quiets it down just right. as long as its not as loud as my straight through magnaflow with no cat was..

I just have a fat exhaust leak.
Sounds pretty good to me hahaha.
Low RPM it has a deep sound.
High RPM it sounds like stock.

all done

its pretty good, obviously i realize if i want stock sound i need stock exhaust. no one at my houuse could hear me come home.its a little loud but i can deal with it. its WAY quieter than my magnaflow was. the packing should break in. city its not very noticeable, the only time i could really hear it was WOT.

i would give it a 2.5 out of 5 on the sound scale. 1 being stock 5 being riced out

That 2.5 will probably be a 3 after having that on there for a week or two. Mine got a bit louder, but nothing "ricey" or loud.

I bought a Thrush welded muffler for $40CAD. You wanna get the welded style, I bought a Thrush turbo (stamped and formed kind) and brought it to work and my buddy who is a mechanic told me it'll blow out after a while, he is also a big Toyota guy too. Went and traded it in for the welded one, pretty much a Flowmaster 40 copy but less than half the price.
