W56B rebuild question

Hi all,

I am working on rebuilding the W56B out of my '88 pickup, and I am not sure how to proceed. I need to pull the clutch hub no. 3 off the countershaft, but there is a weak metal piece right behind it that is locked into the shaft in some way.

Clutch hub No. 3

Any idea how to get this off without mangling it? If there is already a post about this, sorry, I searched but was unable to find anything.

It looks like there is a snap ring on there, but I cannot quite tell for sure in the picture. You can get real cheap snap ring pliers at Harbor Freight, or I have seen them in discount tool bins at various stores.

I think its a press ring. Sometimes you really do need the right tools to do this kind of work.
