I never solver my vibration issues, I believe with the miles I had on that 4runner, it vary well could have been crank shaft bearing end play. I will never know what the real cause was. I sold that 4runner
I do still have pictures of my complete tear down of that A340H ( if I remember the model correctly) transmission

After looking at the FSM, I see that there's a lock nut keeping the flange in place. is it possible the nut may have come loose?

any help in this is appreciated

thanks

I had I vibration in my 97 limited after new tires(2sets)drive shaft complete rebuild including Cardin joint and rebalanced which did help some but still there
1/2 shafts with new autozone ones
Still there
Then did lock out conversion to stop 1/2 shafts from spinning because I noticed a lot of play on half shafts where they come out of front diff and alignment
But still there good
I then drove down in a ice storm and the front diff started banging when turning sharp got home pulled it out and took to a local tranny shop they replaced all bearings and said gears looked good
Put it back in and it took care of 1/3 of the vibration ( even with hubs unlocked)?
I next replaced my rack and pinion with autozone rebuilt one, ties rods still good with no play but I think it was worn out or bad internal seals not sure but new rack with new outer tie rods a alignment and holy---- they 4 year vibration chase at 65 and above was gone ran like new at 75 back up to 15 mpg on 265/75/16
Made it a year now vibration in 4wheel drive drain t case and it is one with tranny fluid and it is burnt and suspended metal in it now on to that

great tread, this just cost me my tranny case

Word of advise, pay attentiin to that vibration. I bought a 96 v6 4wd single cab over a year ago. It drove so loose that i didnt know where to begin. After doing ball joints, brakes, rack and pinnion adjustment, cv joint and driver side front bearing. I was able to focuse the vibration that was coming from the drive shaft it started at 70 i tried to see if it go away at certain speed like some vibrations tend to do and I ended up with a broken transmission case after reaching 100 mph ( probably not smart taking it to a 100) it felt like a shuttle reentering earth athmosphere. At least I know what to replace now.starting at the tranny.
