Common? I don't know about that. I can tell you I've not had that problem myself.

Some of them thread in and out and can just be replaced. But, for the ones that don't.....well, it might be time for a new manifold.

On the other hand, I am thinking you might able to find some of the same size as the ones that are rusting (that are part of the manifold) that would thread in and out, cut the rusted ones off flush, and tap the manifold to replace with the ones that thread in, but I don't know how reliable that would be.

What motor are you having the problem with? I have a used V6 manifold I could sell you......cheap.

The 3.0 manifold is aluminum as well but it does have a bunch of vacuum lines bolted to the underside of it that could rust. They are a separate piece that could be replaced though. Or if you just need a quick fix, you could just extend you're rubber vacuum lines since the metal piece is just a neater way of transferring them from one side of the engine to the other. Sorry can't find a pic of those hard lines. Maybe someone on here has one.

its a 22re and yes the aluminium intake mani dosent rust, but the steel vacuum and small coolant ports that seem to be pressed or brazed in do rust and thats my problem. ill probable just buy a new manifold. it just sucks because these things are such a pain to take off but oh well

If you would be interested in a used one, why don't you check the YT marketplace for folks parting out?
