v6 and auto trans to 22re and manual swap.

Alright so i found a decent 89 sr5 runner with 220,000 miles on her v6 auto trans. the motor and trans are decent but I'd rather have the 22re and a stick shift. anyone know where i can get a complete and good 22re with the manual trans and also an ecu? trying to shoot for $2000 or less. also what else am i going to need? different wiring harness maybe? will the transfer case mate up to the different trans?

Thanks guys!

if you're looking to spend under 2k, just get a new truck...lol

It'll be way cheaper in the end than fabbing new motormounts, getting the wiring done properly, etc.

If you're dead set on swapping...I'd still say buy a truck with a 22re 5speed.

thats the problem though. finding one in good shape or around 2k is practically impossible.

Why not keep the 3VZ and do the R150F swap? Less expensive, less work, more power.

I dunno about Kansas, but in Cali and Arizona they're everywhere for under 2k.

I would agree with bmcel though, just get an R150F tranny, it mates directly to the 3VZ-E.

Some have reported needing the crossmember and driveline from a manual truck, some said they didn't need either. You will need the transfer case as well since the automatic's is married to it. Goes without saying but don't forget the master and slave cylinders, clutch line, and pedal assembly from a manual truck. Good luck! I'll be doing mine soon.

well looks like either way in the end we will probably be going off of each others build threads whoever does it first haha this should be fun if I actually go with it. thinking of going to lc engineering and getting their $474 master rebuild kit due to the fact that the motor leaks oil all over and who knows what other problems lie underneath it all. so should be a lot of fun pulling it all out and doing all the transmission work while the motor is being worked on at a machine shop
