v-8 4Runner opinion
What do y'all think about a 2nd gen 4runner with a 400hp 383 stroker, backed by a turbo 400 with a np205 behind it and some leave sprung dana 60's under it?

That's what I'm sayin. I've been thinkin about doin this for a long time and think it would be awesome. But it's also alot of money. I'm thinking about saving up for a long time and then doin it all at once cause the stock yota axles won't hold up to 400 horses.

why not back away from the power a little....like say a Stock 350...or even a bored and cammed 350..lol
better to be around 250-350hp than over 400

what kind of wheeling do you plan on doing? Tire size? 400 hp sounds like fun!
If it's just occasional wheeling with tires less than 40"s I think it's too much money for something that will never meet it's potential. But if you're going with 44"+ tires and wheel often it would be a great upgrade. I have friends here with stock zuk motors and 38" tires (fully tricked out rigs not motor upgrades) and stock 22re motors that go everywhere....

Why mess around with a domestic V8, when you can fit a Toyota V10 that makes 552 HP and weighs in around the same as a V6 in the same space?

BTW, the Lexus LFA by itself costs $350,000 USD. And I don't think they'll let you purchase just the engine for it on it's own. Not in the forseeable future that is.

The Toyota LR engine is a V10 piston engine built by Toyota.
1LR-GUE
The Lexus LF-A V10 engine. Announced in the Lexus LFA sports car, the 1LR-GUE is a 4,805 cc (293 cu in) DOHC engine. The engine is made from aluminium alloy, magnesium alloy and titanium alloy and is smaller than most V8's.
The oil and water pumps are located at the rear of the engine and the lubrication system uses a dry sump. Titanium is used for the valves and the rockers arms have a diamond like coating. Each cylinder has an independent, electronically controlled throttle body.
Keeping with traditional practice for high-performance Toyota engines, Yamaha was contracted to co-develop the 1LR-GUE.
Maximum power output is 412 kW (560 PS) at 8,700 rpm. Maximum torque is 480 N·m (354 ft·lb) at 6,800 rpm. The engine will rev to 9500 rpm, with 90% of its peak torque available from 3,700 rpm to 9,000 rpm.
Bore x Stroke (mm): 88.0 x 79.0 Compression ratio: 12.0:1 Vee angle: 72 degrees
