Using Carling Contura Rockers to Replace Factory Window Switches
I bought an 86 4Runner last week and I'm working through a long list of issues - Pretty much every interior switch and accessory was inoperable.
It has power locks and power windows. I'm thinking I want to keep the power option, but have been reading that the factory switches wear out fast due to poor design (fulcrums). Rather than replacing them with another switch of the same design, I'm wondering if I couldn't use Carling Contura rockers for the power windows and lock. I'd be willing to lose the window lock feature, although I'm wondering if a standard rocker could fulfill this function.
Has anyone done this?
The driver's door switch panel I'd be replacing is this one:

Most of the time they're dirty inside, carbon builds up on the contacs and just quit working, open them up and blast them with carb cleaner, and try to insert a small screw driver to clean the carbon from betwen the contacs, switches should come back to life after that.

Relocated all my switches to the center console with SPAL switches. But that's cuz I Rewired lots of stuff. When I got the truck my passenger window wouldn't work. Check my build thread for specifics
