useless rear window wiper
so in the 6 years i've had my truck, my rear wiper has gone through several changes.
1. fully functional, turn on the wiper, it wipes the window, turn off, it seats itself properly.
2. fully functional, but has problems reseating itself. sometimes have to cycle it on again to seat it properly.
3. fully functional, but never re-seats. ever. it never stops touching the window without help.
4. and now, it still cycles, but never even touches the window. on the upside it seats itself without a problem cuz it never changes latitude. too bad my rear window doesn't work so it doesn't matter if it seats or not. . . .
any suggestions?

Check out 4Crawler's website

Information you need might be somewhere on this page, but if you scroll towards the bottom you will get to the rear wiper section.
Reading his comments there sounds like it has something to do with an angled plastic.
-----------------
My wiper didn't fully lift off the glass (or park) when it was turned off. That meant any time I used the wiper (on purpose or by accident), I had to walk around back and manually lift it before lowering the rear window (can you say PITA?). There is an angled piece of plastic screwed to the rear of the shell that catches a plastic piece on the wiper arm that is supposed to lift the wiper off the glass. I found that it didn't lift the blade high enough to clear the lip of the fiberglass shell. So, I took a thin nut and beveled it on a grinder and placed it between the angled plastic and the shell. This gives perhaps 1/8" (3mm) extra lift and (red arrow in the above image is pointing at the gap the nut creates between the back of the shell and the plastic piece), more importantly, steepens the angle of the ramped piece. I put a little silicone grease on the plastic pieces and now the wiper reliably lifts off the glass. This is really nice feature to have working in snow country as it keeps the wiper from freezing to the glass.
---------------
Good luck

Wow that link really worked! I just bought my runner 2 weeks ago and switched out the tailgate for a better one plus the spare tire bracket is inside but the window never rolled up. Hooked the motor straight to the battery and wala! It rolled right on up.
Now just gotta get the new pieces for the relay and the switch on center console.

Mine did the same thing. I took the wiper arm assembly off and found that the hinge part was really tight. I basically spread the sides of the wiper arm out a bit, put some grease in there and it works like new.

you can get a new arm from yota , to fix the prob, your old one has weak, bendy, worn out places on it. but the new wiper blade can be a real prob. go to your nearest big auto store, there is a really small, high end wiper blade, made for bmw's , that fits the yota 1st gen 4rnrs... I think at one time bmw made a small wagon shaped like a shelby gt/Sebring, that had a small rear window, with a wiper. That particular wiper will work. I'm using it right now.
